Steel Stamps – Marking Instructions
You'll need: a 16 oz.(or heavier) hammer, a pair of work gloves and safety glasses, stamp holder (recommended), a 1-inch thick steel bar or an anvil.
Place the steel workbench under good lighting and secure it in place.
Place the items you are going to stamp on the workbench.
Wear gloves and safety glasses.
Hold the stamp in one hand between your thumb and index finger.
Place the stamp face directly on the spot you wish to imprint.
Pick up the hammer and make sure it is upright and not deflecting to any side before hitting the stamp. Make sure the entire surface of the stamp is in full contact with the surface of the piece.
Strike your stamp with moderate force only once, to prevent a double image and ensure a clear and complete imprint.
